Software Engineering – Internship/ Thesis Opportunity (f/m)

Job Description

Accelerating Automated Test Program Development by Virtual Prototyping.

State-of-the-art RF transceivers are extremely complex, highly integrated hardware-software systems which must undergo extensive test procedures before being integrated in the final host product.

Any undetected issue has the potential to incur significant costs and delays in the later stages of assembly and packaging.

Test procedures are often controlled by a complex Automated Test Engineering (ATE) program executed on expensive, dedicated test equipment.

ATE programs must be available early, must be thoroughly verified, highly optimized and very mature to enable reliable test procedures. Many modern test equipment are specialized computers running a Linux operating system, and test programs are developed in well-established programming languages such as Java. Virtual Prototype Engineering is standard state-of-the-art practice in the development of complex systems such RF transceivers.  Virtual prototypes (VPs) provide accurate yet efficient models for early software and hardware verification. VPs enable a «shift-left» in the overall development cycle, increase product quality and reduce development costs.

Objective:

The objective of this thesis (or internship) is to apply the VP-based early software development and verification paradigm to the development and verification of ATE programs, to ensure the early availability of an optimized, high-quality test infrastructure.
